Poland Orders 300 Armored Modular Vehicles

“This marks another ... step towards the implementation of the technical modernization of the Polish Armed Forces by 2022,” Defense Minister Tomasz Siemoniak was quoted in the statement.
The Rosomak is built by local state-owned defense manufacturer Wojskowe Zaklady Mechaniczne Siemianowice (WZMS) under a license acquired from Finland’s Patria. Since 2003, when the previous contract was signed by the ministry, the Siemianowice-based producer has delivered about 570 eight-wheel-drive vehicles to the Polish Army.
In July 2013, WZMS extended the license for producing the Rosomak in Poland for a further 10 years.
The vehicles are deployed to the Army’s 12th Mechanized Brigade in Szczecin, the 17th Mechanized Brigade in Miedzyrzecze, and Poland’s military mission in Afghanistan, according to data from the ministry.
The Rosomak is available in several variants, including combat, reconnaissance, medical evacuation and command.
