As one of the most interesting cars to be revealed this year, BMW’s i8 plug-in-hybrid sportscar considers possibilities down to the most minute details. Counted among the innovations is the vehicle’s keys which feature a high-resolution LCD that displays how much charge is left in the car, what the current capable range is, when it was fully charged, and if the i8 is locked or not.

 Although LCD screens are notorious battery killers, the i8 keys make use of Bluetooth Low Energy and includes some tactile buttons for good measure. Although many might consider the move gimmicky, there’s no doubt the technology will continue to be implemented in future car technology.
