Yamaha Virago XV920

No this isn’t a bike built by the Virginia based customizers at Classified Moto. In fact, this 1982 Yamaha Virago XV920 wasn’t built by any specialty shop. It was hand built by an engineering student by the name of Colin Darling, and we applaud him for the effort on his first build.

The 23 year old California resident (who happens to work as a Starbucks barista) is actually a mechanical engineering student, so taking things apart comes naturally for him. This Virago has been equipped with a 2010 Yamaha R6 sourced front end, and a a rear suspension sourced from a 2010 MV Augusta F4 1000RR. The tank has been sourced from a 1978 Kawasaki KZ650 SR, while the badges were 3D printed by Darling himself, and the logo plated in 24 karat gold. We’re not saying everyone will hit a home run on their first build, but this is definitely some nice inspiration.
