Airbus Defence and Space has signed two in-service support contracts with Germany underpinning the entry into service of the German Air Force's new A400M military transport aircraft.

The agreement with the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) consists of a System Support Contract and a Material Management Contract. Both contracts run for four years until December 2018.

The System Support Contract provides technical support services such as overhaul and maintenance as well as a technical field representative team at Wunstorf where the A400M fleet will be based.
The Material Management Contract covers the supply chain of spare parts including the operation of a local warehouse and re-ordering of spares.

Head of A400M Customer Services Stephan Miegel said: “We are putting in place a robust and modern support structure which will adopt advanced maintenance and logistical practices and increasingly build on Airbus Defence and Space's A400M in-service experience with France, Turkey and the UK to provide Germany with world-class in-service support.” Germany has ordered 53 A400Ms and the first will be delivered in the next few days.
